James I. Anthony, Jr.

CEO

Jim has one of the most diverse and distinguished commercial real estate track records in the southeastern United States.  In a career spanning over 35 years, Mr. Anthony has amassed a total transaction volume of over $1B in nearly every type of real estate. Through his investment and development firm, Anthony Property Group, he has syndicated partnerships throughout the southeast and mid-atlantic regions, acquiring  and selling investments with a total value of over $500MM. His expertise and  insight related to economic development, regional and urban planning, transportation and other governmental matters is held in high regard among institutions, businesses, lenders, investors, developers, and senior government officials. 

Prior to founding Anthony & Co. in 1987, Jim served as a consultant with the Grubb & Ellis Company in Los Angeles, California, from 1979 to 1983, winning the “Rookie of the Year” Award in 1980. In 1983, Jim moved to Raleigh to be Leasing and Management Director for Carolantic Realty. In 1998 he acquired Allenton Commercial in Durham, NC and merged it into Anthony & Co. The investment and development boutique known as Anthony Property Group was founded in 2000 with Catherine Miller, and it continues to deliver extraordinary returns to its investors. 

Richard J. Bowden

Rick is the primary contact for Investor Relations.  He oversees Anthony Property Group’s centralized accounting department, responsible for all financial functions and reporting performed throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region.
Rick earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation while working in the auditing department of Coopers & Lybrand in Los Angeles, California. He has worked in the real estate industry since 1986 and has vast experience in taxes, finance, property management, development, multi-family, commercial, retail, and escrow. 

Prior to joining Colliers, Rick was the Controller and Property Manager for Albert Glickman & Associates, a renowned Beverly Hills real estate company specializing in development and management of institutional quality retail shopping centers with a portfolio valued over $200 million.  Rick’s expertise of over 25 years in real estate ensures the maximum return of your real estate investment.

Ed started his real estate career in 1982 working for a regional general contractor in Upstate New York, and has since established a successful career in the development and construction arenas of commercial real estate.  Ed’s diverse skill set includes raw land entitlement and development, investor and client relations, project design and construction management, entity creation and financial analysis. These skills, combined with his years in the industry, enables him to lead large real estate projects successfully from creation to completion. Ed has developed and constructed / rehabilitated several thousand single family homes and multi-family units throughout the Southeast.  His focus and goal is to maximize returns for all stakeholders with transparency and fairness. Following this credo has allowed Ed and his clients to experience many years of success.

Mr. Walser, bringing approximately $225mm in total career transaction volume to the team, directs Anthony Property Group’s investment and acquisition activities throughout North Carolina. Specifically, Mr. Walser oversees deal-specific debt placement, equity syndication, partnership structure, and acquisition execution. He also executes strategic portfolio management initiatives to acquire, reposition, develop, and create value in APG’s growing portfolio. During his tenure with Anthony Property Group, he has facilitated over $165mm in acquisitions, equity and debt syndications, refinancing, dispositions, leases, and 1031 exchanges. Prior to joining Anthony Property Group, Daniel worked in venture capital banking at Square 1 Bank structuring specialty financial solutions to facilitate growth to early stage technology companies throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Washington DC (>$60mm transaction volume). Daniel is deeply involved in the communities he serves, and has accumulated 10+ years with the Northern Wake Fire Department. In addition, Daniel is the Chairman of St. Philip’s Preschool and an ambassador for Young Life, a national, faith-based, non-profit organization. Mr. Walser graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Accounting.

James brings over eight years of investment management experience to the APG team. With a background in property management, landlord and tenant representation, project management, new project development, asset management, and finance, he brings a broad skill set to the APG team. Additionally, James facilitates investor relations and advises on acquisitions and dispositions for APG’s diverse portfolio. As a Raleigh native, James draws upon his extensive local network, market knowledge, and experience to provide APG’s clients with the highest quality service and superior returns. James received a degree in Public Relations from East Carolina University, and is currently pursuing his CCIM Designation.
